If
I could talk to the animals...
Arnie Schwartz has been leading
the Lokanda Nature and Science
Program for 25 years and there
is no one better to help our
campers understand the beautiful
world around us. The Nature
Cabin is filled with a wide
variety of snakes, tarantulas,
lizards of every description,
talking birds, frogs, turtles,
guinea pigs, ferrets and other
creatures too numerous to
mention.
In pens outside the cabin, you
will find goats, rabbits, pigs,
sheep, and even an emu or two.
Every year Arnie brings two or
three new creatures to Lokanda
and he teaches our campers how
to hold the animals, how to feed
them, and how to gently interact
with them in our playpen. In
addition, Arnie has a huge 500
gallon salt water fish tank
stocked with an amazing
assortment of beautifully
colored denizens of the deep.
In addition, each week, Arnie
will introduce a core scientific
theme such as Electricity and
Magnetism or Optical Illusions.
He will have several new
exhibits designed to completely
mystify even the most
sophisticated of campers.
